An ODBC connection is required to connect to the B6 Postgres Database via R, ArcGIS, Microsoft Access, Crystal Reports, pgAdmin, and other third-party applications.

Biotics6 has stronger security than Biotics5, so each user must have their own accounts in order to create an ODBC connection. There are no longer multi-user accounts. For example, in Central Biotics6, there is no "biotics_report" login.

To create an ODBC connection you must have:

1. A Biotics application account, even if you don't need to use the application. If you had an active Biotics5 application account, you'll automatically receive a Biotics6 application account. Otherwise you'll need to request one at the same time you request a database account.

2. A Biotics database account.

See Create an ODBC connection to Biotics6 for creating a database account and the ODBC connection.
