The Biotics Field Data Entry database is an Access database for non-Biotics users to organize field data, and is intended for streamlined processing into Biotics by data management staff. The logic is based on a Conservation Site being entered first, so that EOs can easily be 'attached' to the correct site as they are entered. Similarly, an EO must be entered before its Source Features, so that they may then attach to the EO. Subforms are used for multiple entries for a given feature, such as Visits, Owners, References, etc.
Due to the advent of bulk creating and replacing capabilities in Biotics, a query was added to the database to export a table of much of the data from the Access database, that may be joined to field staff's spatial features in GIS via a 'shape link' field. The joined data may then be loaded into the NatureServe bulk templates. This method works best with new source features and EOs, but functions with updates as well.
